Job summary

Heartland Veterinary Partners LLC in Corbin, Kentucky is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to aid veterinarians and technicians in patient care and treatment, monitor hospitalized patients, and assist with labs and radiographs.

You will educate clients, maintain inventory, prepare prescriptions, assist during surgeries, and ensure a clean, well-organized workflow. Weekend availability and lifting up to 25 pounds are required; prior veterinary experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in medicine and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vitals during procedures.
• Collect samples and run in-house tests; arrange outside lab work as needed.
• Take and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer medications, vaccines, and anesthesia as directed by a veterinarian.
• Keep exam, treatment, and lab areas clean and stocked; support the team.
• Communicate plans and concerns clearly with clients and staff.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
