PetVet Care Centers Aurora Veterinary Hospital in Seattle, WA is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant (Day Shift) to support veterinarians and technicians in daily tasks, equipment cleaning, patient care, and clerical work. Qualifications

  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this position.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Animal handling and restraint.
  • Basic animal knowledge.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to lift 40-50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods.
  • Commitment to cleanliness and sanitation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate care to all patients.
  • Greet patients and their owners, show to examining room, record weight and vital signs.
  • Triages patients, perform exams, treatments, and administer medications as directed by LVTs.
  • Calm and soothe anxious patients.
  • Assist doctors and technicians with medications or patient restraint.
  • Perform laboratory tests and take radiographs.
  • Operate and maintain hospital equipment.
  • Fill prescriptions, calculate and administer medications, maintain records.
  • Feed patients as prescribed; record appetites; report unusual conditions.
  • Communicate with clients to ensure comfort leaving their pet(s).
  • Educate clients about insurance, wellness, and medicinal plans.
  • Maintain hospital cleanliness and proper biosafety.
  • Bath and care for overnight patients; ensure proper grooming before release.
  • Adhere to safety and wellness regulations; carry out directions.
  • Maintain accurate medical records; show up for full-time shifts.
  • Promote hospital products and services; support the organization.
  • Respond respectfully to directions from DVM or LVTs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Manager; may assist in specialty areas.
