Urban Pathways, Inc. is seeking a Security Guard in New York, NY to ensure a secure environment for clients, residents, and staff.

The role emphasizes active listening, high-quality customer service, and cross-cultural awareness to promote an equitable, anti-racist culture. The position requires a Fire safety certification and Security license, with CPR/First Aid and AED training to be obtained within set timelines.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum one to two years of security experience preferred.
• Experience with people experiencing homelessness, mental illness and/or substance abuse population preferred.
• Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Outlook, etc.) a plus.
• Good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good interpersonal skills and ability to work independently or in a team.
• Work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
• Foreign languages a plus.

Responsibilities

• Acts as Fire Safety Guard / Fire Safety Coordinator and carries out all fire safety policies and procedures.
• Ensures all building emergency exits and walkways are unobstructed and secure.
• Performs building security operations and front-desk duties including but not limited to: monitors facility keys and access, CCTV and alarm panel, communicates with local fire and police departments as needed, performs security tours, answers phones, assists in mail distribution, screens visitors.
• Assists in monitoring resident behavior and well-being including client check-in procedures, crisis intervention and de-escalation.
• Assists in monitoring resident/client medication as required and documents appropriately.
• Performs emergency response including CPR defibrillator, AED and first aid as needed.
• Assists in maintaining safe and non-slippery walkways and weather-related safety.
