Job summary

Qualifications

• Must graduate from an approved Nursing Assistant Training Program or be eligible to enter one.
• Must pass a state-approved competency test (written & skills) within 120 days of employment.
• Prior care provider experience is preferred.
• Ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
• Ability to deal effectively with residents, family members, visitors, government agencies and the general public under all conditions.
• Willingness to follow directions and maintain dependable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Follow written and oral directions.
• Provide direct care to residents under supervision of a licensed nurse.
• Follow facility policies and nursing service procedures.
• Assist new employees in following established facility policies and procedures.
• Identify resident problems and report them to a charge nurse or licensed nurse immediately.
• Complete assignments timely, completely and accurately.
• Conduct resident rounds as assigned.
• Identify safety hazards and emergency situations, and initiate corrective action.
