Job summary

Aston Group in New York is seeking a compassionate Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to support residents in a skilled nursing facility. This PRN role offers entry to experienced candidates a chance to make a meaningful impact on rehabilitation journeys.

Responsibilities include assisting with mobility training, transfers, and therapeutic activities while collaborating with PTs, nurses, and care teams. No formal experience is required, but empathy and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited PTA program.
• Current Florida PTA certification or license.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with elderly or rehabilitating residents.
• Ability to collaborate with Physical Therapists, nursing staff, and other care team members.
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care.
• Basic understanding of rehabilitation principles and SNF regulatory guidelines (preferred).
• Ability to lift, support, and assist residents safely during mobility and therapeutic activities.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Assist residents with mobility training, gait training, transfers, and strengthening exercises.
• Implement individualized therapy treatment plans according to resident needs.
• Monitor resident progress and document outcomes accurately and timely.
• Provide education and support to residents and families regarding therapeutic activities and home exercise programs.
• Maintain a safe and clean therapy environment, ensuring equipment is used appropriately.
• Collaborate with nursing staff, therapy teams, and interdisciplinary teams to support overall care plans.
• Encourage resident participation and promote independence in daily functional activities.
