Job summary

The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC Health) seeks a Patient Care Technician to support RN-supervised care in a dynamic hospital setting. You will measure vital signs, assist with daily activities, and help ensure patient comfort and safety while collaborating with the care team.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED, and BLS certification is required on hire. Prior patient care experience is preferred; the role is PRN with flexible hours and is based at MUSC Health

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1 year patient care experience in a health care facility preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required upon hire; maintain BLS certification thereafter (American Heart Association or Red Cross).

Responsibilities

• Keep patient rooms tidy and sanitized.
• Assist patients with daily activities (hygiene, restroom, grooming).
• Monitor vital signs and patient condition (temperature, pulse, etc.).
• Assist nursing staff in administering basic treatments.
• Ensure rooms have adequate patient care supplies and clean linen.
• Assist patients with individual needs and provide emotional support.
• Place patient on cardiac monitor.
• Empty drains, ostomies, Foley bags.
• Perform blood sugar checks.
• Assist with other duties assigned by department leader.
