Job summary

TALENT Software Services is seeking a Certified Phlebotomy Technician for an outpatient clinical setting in San Diego County, CA. This temporary assignment (~4 months) involves venipuncture, specimen labeling, and safe transport of specimens, with emphasis on infection-control and patient-centered care.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and California phlebotomy certification. 2–6 years of phlebotomy experience and English/Spanish bilingual skills are preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Current California phlebotomy certification/licensure required.
• 2–6 years of laboratory or phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipuncture and blood collection procedures accurately and safely.
• Verify patient identification and ensure specimens are properly labeled and documented.
• Prepare patients for blood collection and explain procedures clearly to reduce anxiety and ensure cooperation.
• Collect, handle, process, and transport blood and other clinical specimens according to established procedures.
• Maintain specimen integrity and follow appropriate protocols for storage and transportation.
• Use infection-control and safety procedures during all specimen collection activities.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Properly operate and maintain phlebotomy equipment and supplies.
• Monitor inventory levels and notify personnel when replenishment is needed.
• Accurately document specimen collection and related patient information.
• Follow laboratory procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and report issues to the appropriate healthcare professional.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and protect sensitive medical information.
• Provide professional, respectful, and patient-centered service.
• Work collaboratively with nurses, laboratory personnel, providers, and other team members.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
