Job summary

Rochester Regional Health in Batavia, NY seeks a Patient Care Technician to provide direct and indirect patient care on the Medsurg 3rd floor, UMMC. This role supports licensed nurses and participates in day/evening/weekend scheduling for a 36-hour week.

Responsibilities include patient monitoring, vital signs, mobility assistance, and collaboration with the care delivery team to ensure safe, compassionate care. CNA or related experience preferred; associates degree a plus.

Qualifications

• Minimum age requirement: 18
• Completion of Nursing Fundamentals, CNA certification, experience as a medical assistant/technician in a health-related facility, or participation in a Patient Care Technician training program
• Associates degree preferred
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care & indirect activities to facilitate unit functioning.
• Participates as a member of the care delivery team.
• Provide safe and competent care for patients with nutrition, skin integrity, elimination & hygiene needs including bathing, grooming and changing bed linens.
• Take patient vital signs including temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure and pain level.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills, compassion and support for patients and families.
• Demonstrates teamwork with the care delivery team.
• Assist with ambulation, feeding, transferring or lifting of patients.
• Assist with the admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
• May perform clerical duties including transcription & maintenance of patient charts.
• Assists patient with mobility, such as sitting, standing, and walking.
• Cath lab only - stocks rooms, may handle meds, sharps and syringes on the OR field.
