Job summary

Burke seeks an CN A on a dedicated unit to provide direct patient care under Licensed Nurses supervision. You will perform bed baths, feeding, transfers, vital sign checks and patient transport throughout shifts.

The role emphasizes safety, HIPAA compliance and teamwork within the rehabilitation environment. The work schedule is 7:00am-7:00pm with 4 weekend days per 4-week period; salary range and differential apply.

Qualifications

• High School Required or GED required.
• At least 1 year of hands-on patient care in an acute-care hospital or inpatient rehabilitation setting required.
• Previous experience working as a CNA, Nursing Assistant, Patient Care Technician (PCT), or similar direct-care role strongly preferred.
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to prioritize effectively when presented with competing demands; able to multi-task effectively.
• Good communication skills, diplomatic and tactful
• BLS - American Heart Association Preferred
• NYS Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Preferred

Responsibilities

• Responsible for initiating and completing direct patient care to an assigned group of patients, bed baths, grooming, feeding, transfer to wheelchair, etc.
• Reports abnormal vital sign readings to the RN before moving on.
• Maintains a clean, safe environment and handles basic duties.
• Attend to call bells within defined timeframes.
• Support the care team by responding to bells within own group and others as needed.
• Escorts patients to external appointments as needed.
• Collaborates with care team to ensure patient needs are met.
• Communicates challenges to supervisors.
• Practices good hand-offs and supports continuity of care.
• Uses teamwork with nurses and aides to provide care.
• Assists with admissions and discharges; documents belongings and prepares supplies.
• Assists with non-technical nursing procedures and basic tasks.
• May assist in operating elevator and transporting patients to therapies.
• Demonstrates age-appropriate care across adolescent to geriatric populations.
• Keeps unit clean and adheres to infection control policies.
