Job summary

Mt. Diablo Center in Pleasant Hill seeks a thoughtful Casual Bus Driver to transport clients between 7:30am-10:15am and 2:00pm-4:00pm, plus a shopping shuttle 10:15am-1:15pm in Concord/Martinez/Pleasant Hill. Requires CDL B with passenger endorsement and experience with seniors and wheelchairs.

Casual, as-needed hours; vaccination per policy; vaccination status required on day one. Responsibilities include safe boarding/alighting, door-through-door assistance, vehicle inspections, route

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Class B Commercial Drivers License and pass annual physical exam.
• Experience working with seniors and using a wheelchair lift.
• CHP and DMV Class B with passenger endorsement and VDDP certification (or pursuing).
• Maintain acceptable driving record, reliable transportation, insurance, and be insurable.
• Must pass DOJ fingerprint clearance, medical/TB/drug and alcohol testing.
• High school diploma and experience with people with disabilities preferred.
• Attend CPR and first aid trainings.
• Able to lift 50 pounds and assist participants entering/exiting the van.
• Vision and hearing sufficient for driving and safety.

Responsibilities

• Safely assist passengers entering and exiting the bus, provide door-through-door aid if needed.
• Foster rapport with passengers, staff, and care providers.
• Operate wheelchair lift and secure passengers before movement.
• Load/unload wheelchair equipment and mobility aids properly.
• Run midday shopping shuttle for frail, low-income residents in Concord area.
• Assist passengers with packages or groceries.
• Inspect vehicle twice daily and document conditions.
• Review transportation schedule with Program Director; plan routes using maps.
