Job summary

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs in Omaha, NE seeks a Nursing Assistant to join a medical/surgical unit. You will support nursing staff, assist with admissions/transfers, and provide direct patient care on a home unit with possible cross-coverage.

You will perform clinical tasks under supervision, monitor vitals, and help with daily activities while ensuring patient privacy and dignity. Shift work includes weekends and holidays with benefits as part of federal employment.

Qualifications

• Six months general experience or one year education in NA.
• English proficiency for direct patient care.
• Completion of NA coursework or related training meets basic requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with admissions, transfers and discharges.
• Provide patient care and monitoring per RN instruction.
• Maintain patient room cleanliness and safety.
• Assist with ADLs and comfort measures.
• Document care activities in EMR.
