Memorial Health System of Southwest Oklahoma is seeking a Mental Health Technician to join the interdisciplinary treatment team. You will support patients under the plan of care, maintain safety and structure of the milieu, observe and document patient status, and assist with daily activities and education as directed by the unit nurse.

The role requires ability to verbally and physically assist patients, use de-escalation techniques, and participate in emergency interventions when needed.

Qualifications

• Must be over 21 and pass Oklahoma DHS background check.
• Previous Behavioral Health experience preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent; college coursework or degree preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or Sociology will be recognized as 4 years’ experience
• Current BLS within first week of hire, First Aid within 30 days of hire, MAB within 30 days of hire

Responsabilités

• Models positive social/coping skills.
• Observes patient behaviors and records on 15 min rounding sheets.
• Observes patient behaviors and documents tech notes in Meditech as assigned.
• Documents patient responses to Therapeutic Rehab group daily.
• Communicates symptoms and changes to RN and co-workers.
• Records patients' vital signs, heights and weights.
• Coordinates with health care team to implement patient care plans; acts as liaison.
• Monitors diet, sleep and physical activity.
• Assists patients with comfort measures, bathing, hygiene, meals, skin care.
• Prepares patients for exams and treatments.
• Maintains milieu safety and environmental logs.
• Reports on injuries to supervisor immediately.
• Uses de-escalation techniques; applies physical intervention as last resort.
• Provides educational and leisure activities and groups.
• Ensures patient safety and staff supervision and intervention.
• Promotes customer service to patients, families, visitors, team members and physicians.
• Assists with new hire training and acts as a preceptor when appropriate.
• May be required to go to main campus for behavioral health sitter duties.
• Other duties including floating to other units.
