Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Graduate of an approved Nurse Aide Training Program or be eligible to enter such a program and graduate and pass a state test within 120 days from date of employment.
• Understanding of medication administration procedures and completion of a state-approved training course.
• Ability to perform basic math functions.
• Understanding of resident care procedures and standards.
• Ability to make independent decisions when warranted.
• Prior experience in a healthcare environment is desirable.
• Ability to interact tactfully with staff, residents, family, visitors, and the public.

Responsibilities

• Set up and administer medication per physician orders and regulations.
• Chart routine medications and PRN doses, document observations.
• Maintain medication inventory and report discrepancies.
• Participate in rounds with nurse and physician.
• Provide personal care and basic nursing functions.
• Create a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents.
• Maintain and update resident documentation for daily living activities and restorative programs.
• Attend ongoing training and certification updates.
