Job summary

Tenet Healthcare's DMC Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit, MI is seeking a Nursing role (PRN) for the Day shift. Under general supervision, you will serve as a Medical Assistant and Patient Services Assistant, greeting visitors, registering patients, and assisting physicians during exams.

You will collect demographics and insurance data, verify benefits, post payments, prepare charts, take vital signs, and assist with injections, venipuncture, EKGs, and related procedures as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduation from a school of practical nursing or equivalent.
• PCA/PCT Program, Nurse Assistant Program, Medical Assistant Program, EMT, or Phlebotomy program.
• One year of Medical Assistant or Patient Care Associate duties.
• One year of medical office clerical duties (insurance verification, authorizations, billing, EMR).
• Medical Assistant certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greets visitors, registers patients, and schedules appointments.
• Collects demographics and insurance data.
• Contacts insurers to determine benefits and patient co-pays; posts payments.
• Prepares patient charts and records; releases medical information as needed.
• Assists physician during examinations and procedures.
• Takes vital signs and documents in patient chart.
• Performs injections, venipuncture, EKGs, stress tests, x-rays, PFTs, etc.
• Obtains referrals and schedules procedures.
• Handles billing entries and deposits.
• Follows safety policies (JCAHO/OSHA) and CPR training.
