Job summary

VOA Northern California & Northern Nevada is seeking a Kitchen Assistant Intern for the Central Kitchen in downtown Sacramento, CA. This full-time role supports meal preparation, packaging, and delivery to vulnerable groups, with a starting pay of USD 17.25 per hour.

Responsibilities include assisting cooks, maintaining kitchen sanitation, stocking ingredients, and helping serve meals. Experience in a kitchen helps, and a Food Handler’s License is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Familiarity with kitchen sanitation and safety procedures.
• Food Handler’s License required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in a safe and sanitary manner, using proper food handling techniques.
• Ensure proper safety procedures for all kitchen equipment.
• Clean and sanitize all food prep areas according to hygiene standards.
• Wash and store cooking appliances, utensils, and dishes properly.
• Sweep and mop floors; wipe kitchen walls as needed.
• Maintain stock and inventory; assist with meal preparation.
