Job summary

Fresenius Medical Care is seeking a Patient Care Tech to join the dialysis health care team in an acute setting. You will provide patient care under the supervision of the FMCNA RN, ensuring a safe, clean environment and assisting in quality improvement activities.

Responsibilities include monitoring vitals, recording data, assisting with vascular access checks, and supporting dialysis treatment initiation and termination as prescribed by the nephrologist.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• PCT national certification or state CMS certification required.
• All appropriate state licensure, education and training required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under supervision of the FMCNA RN for assigned patients in the acute setting.
• Maintain a safe and clean working environment and support quality improvement activities.
• Assist in meeting productivity goals and participate in process improvements as needed.
• Set up and prime dialysis equipment under RN direction when competent.
• Record vital signs, weight and treatment data accurately on the treatment sheet.
• Monitor vascular access and report abnormalities to the FMCNA RN.
• Assist with initiating and terminating dialysis treatment per orders.
• Collect specimens and ensure timely delivery to the lab.
• Perform intervention for intradialytic issues as directed by physician or RN.
• Assist with post-treatment evaluations and discharge procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.

Education
