Job summary

The Housekeeper at Tuff Memorial Home is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will perform routine cleaning and disinfecting across the facility while following infection prevention and safety policies.

You will interact with residents with dignity and respect, support a positive environment, and participate in training and staff meetings. The role emphasizes teamwork and adherence to facility procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in housekeeping or janitorial work is preferred but not required.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective communication with residents, families, visitors, and staff.
• Ability to safely use cleaning products and equipment.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain regular attendance.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, dining areas, activity areas, and other assigned areas.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and clean floors and surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and areas according to facility schedules.
• Empty trash and dispose of waste appropriately.
• Clean windows, mirrors, furniture, fixtures, and other assigned areas.
• Assist with maintaining clean and sanitary resident and public bathrooms.
• Follow established cleaning schedules and procedures.
• Use cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and according to manufacturer and facility instructions.
• Follow infection prevention and control practices, including PPE.
• Report spills, safety hazards, maintenance concerns, damaged equipment, or other environmental concerns to the supervisor.
• Maintain cleaning supplies and equipment in an organized and sanitary manner.
• Assist with special cleaning projects and deep-cleaning duties as assigned.
• Respect resident privacy and confidentiality.
• Interact appropriately with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.
• Follow all facility policies and procedures.
• Attend required staff meetings and training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
