Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• State-approved Personal Care Aide or Home Care Aide course completed.
• At least six months experience as a Personal Care Assistant in homes or facilities.
• Listed with a “clear” report on the California Home Care Aide Registry.
• Achieves a minimum score of 80% on competency exam (Home Health Aide Test).
• Meets passing criteria on DEARS Ethics test.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English as needed for the job.
• Possess a valid driver's license and have use of an insured automobile or access to adequate transportation for the job.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care: bathing, dressing, grooming, nail/skin care, back and leg care, oral hygiene, mobility, meal planning and feeding assistance.
• Provide companionship and respite services for family.
• Perform homemaking tasks: vacuuming, dusting, sweeping/mopping, dishes, laundry, bed linens, bathrooms.
• Assist with client medications that are self-administered.
