Job summary

DESC seeks a Hoarding Specialist to join the Unit Condition Response Team in Seattle. You will focus on high clutter and crowding environments, develop individualized care plans, and coach DESC staff to address hoarding behaviors with harm-reduction approaches.

You will work with case managers and providers to support housing stability, document client interactions, and contribute to inspections and program goals. A current Hoarding Certification and WA AAC registration eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Current Hoarding Certification
• Experience mitigating clutter and housekeeping issues
• Clinical experience with homeless adults affected by mental illness and substance use disorders
• Ability to work with individuals with challenging behaviors
• Knowledge of local homelessness, mental health and harm reduction systems
• Capacity to communicate with people from diverse backgrounds

Responsibilities

• Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team supporting adults with severe mental illness and substance use disorders
• Work with case managers to address hoarding tendencies and related challenges
• Maintain expertise in hoarding disorders and consult staff and tenants
• Attend trainings and meetings on hoarding disorder developments
• Provide in-unit assistance to declutter and maintain living conditions
• Assist with unit inspections to support housing retention and funding
• Document client interactions according to agency standards
