Job summary

Northwest Care in Bend, OR seeks compassionate Direct Support Professionals to provide 24-hour person-centered care for adults with IDD in a home-like setting.

You will assist with daily living, support independence, transport to activities, and document changes; paid training provided. This full-time role offers day, swing, and night shifts with $25–$27 per hour, plus benefits and ongoing education.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Age 18 years or older.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Background checks: Criminal history and driving background clearance.
• Physical ability to lift or transfer up to 50 pounds.
• Clear, empathetic and organized communication skills.
• Preferred CPR/First Aid, Oregon Intervention System (OIS) certifications or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a positive atmosphere upholding client dignity and respect.
• Assist daily living activities: personal hygiene, dressing, grooming, mobility.
• Encourage independence and community participation.
• Assist with meal prep, feeding, and household tasks for safety.
• Oversee medication administration and documentation.
• Transport clients to community outings and recreational activities.
• Monitor changes in clients’ conditions and report concerns.
• Ensure safety and adherence to protocols while fostering independence.
