Job summary

Yale New Haven Health seeks a motivated nursing assistant to provide direct patient care under supervision. You will assist with activities of daily living, collect vital signs, and support non-sterile treatments and specimen collection. Excellent customer service and PFCC principles are emphasized.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and CNA certification or active nursing program enrollment. Prior patient care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CNA certification or current enrollment in a nursing program required prior to orientation.
• One year patient care experience (EKG, phlebotomy, nurse aide) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Conduct daily patient care activities including activities of daily living and comfort measures.
• Collect data: weights, temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure.
• Perform non-sterile treatments such as applying cold compresses.
• Perform specimen collection/procedures including phlebotomy when assigned.
• Use effective interpersonal skills with patients, families, and staff.
• Participate in mandatory inservices and stay involved in ongoing education.
• Be flexible with time as assignments change to meet unit needs.
