Job summary

Adventist Health Vallejo seeks a compassionate Psychiatric Technician to deliver direct and indirect care under RN supervision in a 61-bed facility. You will support treatment programs for children, adolescents and adults, assist with data collection, and participate in therapeutic activities.

The role emphasizes de-escalation, patient safety, and collaboration with the care team. Requires HS diploma; certification/licensure options include LPT/LVN; prior mental health experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Education or GED is required.
• An Associate's/Technical degree is preferred.
• Two years' experience in acute or long-term mental healthcare is preferred.
• Licensure as LVN/LPN or LPT is preferred/required depending on role.
• TEAM/CPI certifications and BLS are required or preferred per policy.

Responsibilities

• Uses de-escalation techniques and less restrictive interventions when providing nursing care.
• Processes admissions and discharges, conducts intake interviews and orientation as needed.
• Monitors patient condition, documents observations and reports changes to RN.
• Interacts with patients and families, provides safety instructions and education.
• Administers medications per physician orders and coordinates with pharmacy staff.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
