Job summary

Athena Care at Home in the Glastonbury area seeks a compassionate Companion II to join our care team. This on-the-road position pays $17 an hour with weekly pay and requires a valid driver’s license and insured vehicle; mileage is reimbursed.

You will supervise safety, assist with daily living activities, provide non-medical personal care, and support clients with housekeeping, meals, and mobility as needed. Travel throughout the county is expected.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Excellent customer service and listening skills.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must have an active driver’s license and an insured vehicle.
• Access to a working telephone for communication with client and team.
• Excellent oral and written communication in English.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Demonstrate professional judgment and multi-tasking ability.
• Provide Homemaker services per the client’s care plan and report changes.

Responsibilities

• Supervise safety and assist with activities of daily living in home.
• Provide non-medical personal care and housekeeping.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, toileting, transfers, eating.
• Provide medication reminders.
• Housekeeping tasks such as vacuuming, dishes, laundry, etc.
• Drive clients to outings, events, or appointments; mileage is reimbursed.
• Provide emotional and social support to clients.
• Assist with grocery shopping and meal prep.
• Monitor skin health and prosthetics/orthotics care.
• Report changes in client status to the care team.

Athena Care at Home is seeking a compassionate and skilled Companion II to join our dynamic care team in the Glastonbury area. $17 an hour with weekly pay. This on-the-road position requires the candidate to have an active driver's license and an insured vehicle, and must be willing to travel throughout the county. Mileage is reimbursed.

Job Summary:

You will provide supervision for safety and assistance to clients in activities of daily living to maintain them in their home. You will provide non-medical personal care to support clients living with physical, emotional, or cognitive impairments, including housekeeping duties, personal hygiene assistance, and more.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, toileting, transferring, and eating/feeding

• Provide medication reminders

• Housekeeping, including vacuuming, dusting, washing dishes, trash removal, laundry, changing bed sheets, etc.

• Drive clients to and from planned outings, events, or appointments, as needed

• Provide emotional and social support to clients

• Assist with grocery shopping and meal preparation

• Monitor the skin health of the client

• Application and maintenance of prosthetics and orthotics

• Report any changes in the client's status to appropriate team members

Requirements:

• High school diploma or its equivalent

• Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with the client, family, and office staff

• Ability to provide covered Homemaker service according to the client’s care plan, respond appropriately to client’s needs and reports changes in the client’s condition to the supervising Manager
