Job summary

Visiting Angels Midtown Sacramento is hiring Compassionate Companion Caregivers to help seniors stay at home in the Sacramento area. Compensation starts at $19.00 to $21.00 per hour, with flexible full-time and part-time shifts and a supportive team environment.

Benefits include health, vision, and dental after 90 days, paid training, weekly stipends and ongoing performance reviews. Training and PPE are provided, along with company vehicles for client outings and opportunities for overtime.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years old and able to work legally in the US.
• Fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 with shot record.
• Possess a valid driver's license, car insurance, and access to a personal vehicle.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Able to perform light housekeeping and cooking as needed.
• Able to pass background checks including Live Scan and TB screening.
• Registered on the California Home Care Aide Registry.

Responsibilities

• Helping clients with personal care and hygiene.
• Managing light housekeeping.

• Prompting clients to take medications at the right times.
• Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries.

A Visiting Angels Companion Caregiver wears many hats as they help our elderly and home-care clients stay at home or recover at home with dignity.

While no two client visits look exactly alike, responsibilities may include:

• Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene
• Managing light housekeeping
• Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
• Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times
• Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for them)
• Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)
• Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation - this can include everything from getting around the house to visiting the doctor and taking walks

A Companion Caregiver must also be prepared to act quickly in the case of medical emergencies. This includes adequately reporting any health changes or unusual circumstances. Our caregivers possess the ideal blend of competency, compassion, and professional discernment.

Companion Caregiver Job Requirements

• Must be 18 years old and able to work legally in the US
• Fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 with shot record
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent
• Posses a Valid Drivers License, Car Insurance, and a Reliable Personal Vehicle to use to transport clients
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must
• Have excellent time-management skills and can juggle multiple duties at once
• Reliable transportation to get to and from client homes at the times you're scheduled to provide care
• Feel confident in your physical endurance when it comes to things like carrying groceries and physically supporting a client
• Feel comfortable performing housekeeping and cooking duties while adhering to applicable dietary constraints
• Are willing and able to comply with state and office-specific health and safety standards (ex., background check)
• Bring compassion, understanding, and a desire to brighten the day of each client to the table
• Must be able to use a smartphone for electronic visit verification (EVV) and caregiver notes
• Ability to pass extensive background checks, including Live Scan fingerprinting
• Have a negative TB screening within the last 90 days
• Registered on the California Home Care Aide Registry
