Job summary

Visiting Angels Abilene is hiring a compassionate Companion Caregiver to assist seniors at home across the Big Country region, including Buffalo Gap, Tuscola, Hawley, and nearby areas.

You will support daily living activities, manage light housekeeping, encourage activity, and help with medications while maintaining dignity and safety.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent time-management and interpersonal skills mandatory.
• Reliable transportation to client visits required.
• Strong communication abilities and teamwork.
• Familiarity with basic housekeeping and cooking tasks.

Responsibilities

• Help clients with personal care and hygiene.
• Manage light housekeeping tasks.
• Encourage clients to meet exercise and fitness goals.
• Prompt clients to take medications as prescribed.
• Assist with shopping and groceries or arrange purchases.
• Plan and prepare meals with clients based on abilities.
• Support mobility and accompany clients to appointments and activities.
• Report health changes promptly and act in emergencies.

A Visiting Angels Companion Caregiver wears many hats as they help our elderly and home-care clients stay at home or recover at home with dignity.

While no two client visits look exactly alike, responsibilities may include:

• Helping clients handle personal care and hygiene
• Managing light housekeeping
• Encouraging clients to meet their exercise and fitness goals
• Prompting clients to take their prescription medications at the right times
• Helping clients with shopping and putting away groceries (or shopping for them)
• Planning and preparing meals in collaboration with clients (based on client ability)
• Assisting clients with mobility and ambulation - this can include everything from getting around the house to visiting the doctor and taking walks

A Companion Caregiver must also be prepared to act quickly in the case of medical emergencies. This includes adequately reporting any health changes or unusual circumstances. Our caregivers possess the ideal blend of competency, compassion, and professional discernment.

Companion Caregiver Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
