Qualifications

• 1+ year of supervisory experience, preferably in a pet retail environment.
• Strong knowledge of companion animals, aquatics, and animal care practices.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of all live animals following Petco standards and veterinary protocols.
• Oversee hourly animal health checks, wellness cards, and required documentation.
• Oversee proper handling, care, and documentation of adoption animals.
• Act on sick or injured animals per veterinary protocols.
• Coach and mentor partners for confident, compassionate customer interactions.
• Create a welcoming environment in the Companion Animal and Aquatics areas with high presentation standards.
• Promote teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
• Lead by example in selling behaviors and customer service expectations.
• Drive sales, margin, and shrink performance through disciplined execution.
• Use business insights to analyze trends and identify opportunities.
• Efficiently order live animals to balance welfare, inventory, sales, and margin.
• Support Omni-Channel execution (BOPUS, ship-from-store, curbside, endless aisle).
• Serve as Leader on Duty, supporting operations, communication, safety, and compliance.
• Train and develop partners in animal care, selling behaviors, and routines.
• Provide ongoing feedback to strengthen performance.
• Animals are healthy, customers trust the team, department meets goals, partners are trained.
