Job summary

National Youth Advocate Program (NYAP) seeks outreach workers in Chicago, IL to educate communities on violence prevention and establish partnerships with churches, schools, businesses, and local officials. Responsibilities include crisis intervention, reporting, and referral to job programs, GED, and mentoring.

Qualifications

GED or high school diploma required and valid driver’s license.
At least two years of outreach or community program experience.
Knowledge of violence prevention, community resources, and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

Engage with residents to reduce and prevent violence in the community.
Develop relationships with community leaders, churches, schools, and local partners.
Inform residents about violence prevention efforts and reporting resources.
Intervene in situations with potential for retaliation and violence.
Refer clients to case management, job programs, GED, drug treatment, and mentoring.
Document conflicts resolved and maintain daily logs of contacts.
