The Bowery Residents' Committee is hiring a Community Technician to provide a steady, compassionate presence for individuals experiencing homelessness. You’ll support residents during crises, perform rounds, and help maintain a safe, respectful living environment on site.

The role emphasizes trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and documentation, with opportunities for CPR/First Aid and other certifications through BRC. Shifts include mornings, evenings, overnights, and mandatory overtime.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided)
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes)
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep

At BRC, every shift matters. As a Community Technician, you’re a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness—often supporting people in moments of crisis, uncertainty, or transition.

This hands-on, frontline role is ideal for those interested in social work, human services, public health, or emergency response. No prior shelter experience required—just strong judgment, empathy, and the ability to stay calm under pressure.

What You’ll Do

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds
