Job summary

Barber National Institute in Pittsburgh, PA seeks a Community Support Professional (FT/1st shift, unlicensed) to provide person-centered support for individuals with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include assisting with ISP goals, community integration, daily living skills, and transportation.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, one year of direct care preferred, CPR/First Aid, and possible Medication Administration certification.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One year of direct care experience preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to meet agency insurance requirements.
  • Current CPR and First Aid certification, or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
  • Medication Administration certification (if designated for the role).
  • Required clearances, including Acts 33 & 34 and FBI clearance when applicable.
  • Physical examination and tuberculosis screening maintained in accordance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Support individuals in achieving goals outlined in ISP.
  • Assist with community integration, volunteer opportunities, recreational activities, and social engagement.
  • Promote independence in daily living skills, personal care, and decision-making.
  • Support individuals with vocational exploration and employment-focused activities.
  • Provide transportation and accompany individuals to appointments and events.
  • Monitor health, safety, and well-being in all environments.
  • Implement behavior support plans and communication strategies.
  • Administer medications in accordance with certification and agency policies.
  • Complete documentation, service notes, health records, and other required reports.
  • Collaborate with team members, families, and community partners to provide high-quality support.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and ongoing professional development.
