Job summary

Abilities, LLC is seeking a Community Support Professional (CSP) to provide person-centered supports in individuals' homes and in community settings throughout Harrisonville, Holden, and surrounding communities. You will promote independence, self-determination, and meaningful participation while following PCSP, HCBS, and DMH guidelines.

The CSP will deliver direct support, skill development, and transportation assistance as part of a multidisciplinary team within the Community Services

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license with insurable driving record.
  • Reliable personal vehicle for transporting individuals.
  • Current automobile insurance meeting agency requirements.
  • Pass background screenings and a drug screen.
  • Complete required training and certifications (MANDT, Tools of Choice, CPR/First Aid, Level I Medication Aide if required).

Responsibilities

  • Direct Support & Person-Centered Services to individuals in their homes and community.
  • Teach independent living skills and promote self-determination and community engagement.
  • Maintain documentation and communication with supervisors.
  • Transport individuals using own vehicle and follow driving safety policies.

Position Summary

The Community Support Professional (CSP) is the primary direct care provider for individuals receiving Community Services through Abilities, LLC. DSPs provide person-centered support through Personal Care Assistance (PCA), Community Networking, and Skill Development services in accordance with each individual's Person-Centered Service Plan (PCSP), Home and Community-Based Services (HCBS) requirements, Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) regulations, and Abilities, LLC policies.

CSPs promote independence, self-determination, community inclusion, and meaningful participation while supporting individuals in achieving their personal goals. Services are provided in individuals' homes and throughout the community.

Position Purpose

The Community Support Professional (CSP) exists to provide individualized supports that enable people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live independently and participate fully in their communities. CSPs teach skills rather than perform tasks for individuals whenever possible and encourage informed choice, self-advocacy, and community engagement.

Requirements & Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications

To be hired and remain employed, an individual must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Maintain a valid driver's license and insurable driving record.
  • Maintain a reliable personal vehicle for transporting individuals receiving services.
  • Maintain current automobile insurance meeting agency requirements.
  • Pass all required background screenings.
  • Pass a drug screen.
  • Successfully complete all required training and certifications, including MANDT, Tools of Choice, CPR/First Aid, Level I Medication Aide (if required), and other agency-required training.
Physical & Environmental Requirements

CSPs must be able to:

  • Lift up to 50 pounds independently and team lift heavier loads when necessary.
  • Assist individuals with transfers and mobility.
  • Bend, kneel, squat, climb stairs, and walk for extended periods.
  • Safely operate a personal motor vehicle throughout the workday.
  • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Perform approved physical intervention techniques when trained and necessary.
Technology & System Requirements

CSPs are required to utilize agency systems including:

  • SetWorks for documentation and service notes
  • WhenToWork for schedules
  • BambooHR for employee self-service
  • Gmail for agency communication
  • Google Chat for departmental communication
  • Other agency-approved software as assigned
    Employees are responsible for checking agency communications regularly.

  • Represent Abilities, LLC professionally within the community.
Core Responsibilities

1. Direct Support & Person-Centered Services
CSPs provide individualized supports that promote independence and community inclusion by:

  • Assisting with activities of daily living as authorized.
  • Teaching independent living skills.
  • Supporting decision-making and self-advocacy.
  • Encouraging independence instead of doing tasks for individuals.
  • Respecting each person's rights, dignity, privacy, and choices.

2. Personal Care Assistance
CSPs may assist with:

  • Personal hygiene
  • Dressing and grooming
  • Toileting
  • Meal preparation
  • Household tasks
  • Mobility assistance
  • Medication assistance as permitted by certification and agency policy

3. Community Networking & Integration
CSPs support individuals to:

  • Participate in community activities.
  • Develop friendships and natural supports.
  • Volunteer.
  • Attend recreational and educational activities.
  • Utilize community resources.
  • Build confidence participating independently in their community.
    Community participation should be meaningful and based on the individual's interests, goals, and preferences.

4. Skill Development
CSPs provide instruction and coaching in areas including:

  • Cooking
  • Cleaning
  • Laundry
  • Budgeting
  • Shopping
  • Public transportation
  • Safety awareness
  • Communication
  • Social skills
  • Time management
  • Problem-solving
  • Employment readiness

5. Documentation & Communication
CSPs are responsible for:

  • Completing documentation in SetWorks before the end of each shift.
  • Recording progress toward goals.
  • Completing incident reports promptly.
  • Maintaining accurate service records.
  • Communicating important information to supervisors.
    Documentation is considered part of service delivery and is required for Medicaid compliance.

6. Transportation
CSPs are expected to:

  • Safely transport individuals using their own vehicle.
  • Maintain a clean and reliable vehicle.
  • Carry current insurance and driver's license.
  • Follow all traffic laws.
  • Complete required mileage documentation.
  • Assist individuals entering and exiting the vehicle safely.
Pay
  • Starting range: $17.25 to $21.75 per hour, based on your experience
  • Annual raises: a yearly performance review with a merit increase of up to 5%
  • Mileage: authorized driving in your own vehicle during service is reimbursed at $0.72 per mile
Time off and holidays
  • Paid time off: starts accruing your first week, up to about 100 hours a year at full-time and about 50 at part-time, available to use after day 61
  • PTO cash-out: option to cash out up to 40 hours of PTO each year
  • Holidays: any hours you work on a recognized holiday are paid at time and a half
Benefits for full-time employees

Full-time CSPs, averaging 30 or more hours a week, become eligible after 60 days, with coverage starting the first of the following month.

  • Medical: coverage through an ICHRA, with Abilities contributing up to $500 a month toward employee-only coverage and up to $1,000 a month toward family coverage, increasing the longer you stay
  • Direct Primary Care: membership-based primary care through Vitable, virtual, and Midwest Healthcare & Wellness in Warrensburg, in person, with unlimited visits and no copays or deductibles for covered everyday care
  • Dental and vision: available
  • Life and supplemental coverage: available through AFLAC
