Job summary

SYJCC in Suffolk, VA is seeking a social work professional to coordinate support groups, provide social work services to local synagogues and unaffiliated Jewish residents, and support employment services.

The role includes intake assessments, referrals, partnership development with synagogues, grant reporting, and outreach to unemployed individuals in Suffolk County. Travel to partner locations will be required as needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate support groups; schedule sessions and communicate with session workers and participants as needed
• Provide information and referrals to community services and other providers
• Maintain referral lists of community and social service resources and employment resources
• Develop partnerships with synagogues and outreach to non-partner synagogues
• Provide consulting and referral services to partner synagogues and their staff
• Link clients to SYJCC support services
• Maintain records and statistics for grant reporting
• Complete required grant reports for funding agencies
• Outreach to unemployed or underemployed individuals in Suffolk County
• Screen clients and assess employment-related and other counseling needs
• Design and implement employment services workshops and speakers
• Maintain a participant database for groups and services
• Support pantry activities and synagogue initiatives
• Assist with community event planning and coordination with synagogues
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
