Job summary

The City of Laredo invites applications for a Community Service Officer in the Laredo Police Department. This non-sworn role supports enforcement of city ordinances and provides education and assistance to the public.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, additional coursework in Criminal Justice preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience with public contact and enforcement of regulatory policies in a service-oriented environment.
• Foreign credential evaluation for education completed outside the U.S. may be required.

Responsibilities

• Augment police operations to enforce ordinance violations, including right of way traffic laws.
• Respond to calls for traffic safety hazards and perform traffic control.
• Respond to traffic accidents on private property, civil disputes, and minor offenses to assist the public.
• Attend events to educate the public on city ordinances and safety tips.
• Testify in Municipal Court for ordinance violations and related matters.
• Drive a City vehicle for official business.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
