Responsibilities

• Responds to walk-in requests for service and on-scene calls for service, including theft, motor accidents, and criminal damage.
• Prepares reports on theft, motor accidents, criminal damages and other service calls.
• Performs routine patrols and enforces the Village parking code.
• Assists motorists with disabled cars and lockouts.
• Educates parents and childcare givers on child car seats and performs car seat installations.
• Assists with School Crossing Guard duties and other administrative tasks.

Salary: $27.12 – $37.29

Position Summary:

The Village is accepting applications for a part-time Community Service Officer in the Police Department. This position assists patrol officers with non-active calls for service by preparing reports, assisting motorists, collecting information, and managing general service calls. Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with municipal parking ordinances through accurate enforcement of the Village code and ordinances. A successful candidate will be able to conduct investigations into complaints and minor crimes, be proficient with technical software, and have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Essential Functions:

• Responds to walk-in requests for service and to on-scene calls for service, including but not limited to theft, motor accidents, and criminal damage
• Prepares reports on theft, motor accidents, criminal damages, and other service calls
• Performs routine patrols
• Patrols assigned areas for enforcement of the Village’s municipal parking code
• Assists motorists with disabled cars and lockouts
• Educates parents and childcare givers on child car seats and performs car seat installations
• Assists with School Crossing Guard duties
• Assists with a variety of administrative duties in the Police Department
• Other miscellaneous duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required, accompanied by two to five years of general work experience.
• A combination of education and experience that produces the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is also acceptable.
