Job summary

Nationwide Children’s Hospital is seeking an Outreach Athletic Trainer to support pediatric and adolescent athletes in school and community settings. The role focuses on injury prevention, evaluation, rehabilitation, and coordination of care with physicians, schools, patients, and families.

The candidate will provide event coverage, documentation in EMR, and collaborate with sports medicine staff while promoting health and wellness.

Qualifications

• Three years of outreach or school-based athletic training experience (preferred).
• Licensed as an Athletic Trainer in Ohio.
• CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Supports delivery of high-quality patient care in community and school settings, including age-appropriate evaluations, triage, treatments, and return-to-play decisions.
• Completes timely documentation of injuries, treatments, and encounters in the EMR in accordance with hospital and partner policies; ensures HIPAA/FERPA compliance.
• Develop professional relationships with patients, families, schools, and medical communities to improve patient experience and coordination of care.
• Maintains knowledge of best practices in pediatric/adolescent sports medicine and stays current in clinical care.
• Participates in staff development, continuing education, and community engagement activities sponsored by NCH.
