Job summary

United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley is hiring a Community School Coordinator for Allentown to bridge school, family, and community supports. You will guide interventions, coordinate resources, and lead family engagement efforts ensuring students access academic, social, emotional, and physical supports.

Working with the principal and leadership team, you design, supervise, and refine targeted CS programs, partnering with lead agencies to reduce barriers to learning and improve student

Qualifications

• At least 1 year of work experience in education, social work or community development.
• Eligible to obtain child abuse clearances required to work in a public elementary school.
• Able to work in person at the school site in Allentown, PA.
• Not related by blood, marriage or romantic relationship to any UWGLV employee.

Responsibilities

• Provide collaborative leadership and school integration in the CS model (25% of time).
• Manage community school data (20% of time).
• Implement & continuously improve CS programs (25% of time).
• Develop & maintain relationships with partners and coordinating infrastructure (15% of time).
• Advocate for the CS model and engage community (5% of time).

1 CSC position is available in Allentown School District, at Roosevelt Elementary School.

The Community School Coordinator serves as a strategic leader and key liaison between the school, families, and the surrounding community. This role is central to the successful implementation of the Community School model, ensuring that students receive the academic, social, emotional, and physical support they need to thrive.

Operating as a coordinator rather than an executor, the individual in this role drives data-informed decision-making, stakeholder collaboration, and resource alignment to create sustainable, high-impact programs. Working closely with the principal, school leadership team, and lead agency, they design, develop, and supervise targeted interventions, enrichment activities, and family engagement initiatives that remove barriers to learning and enhance student success.
