Job summary

City of Sheboygan Falls is seeking a Community Risk Reduction & Improvement Officer (Full-Time) to lead fire prevention, code compliance, and community risk reduction efforts. You will perform inspections, enforce codes, and coordinate corrective actions to protect residents and property.

Ideal candidates have an associate degree in Fire Science or Public Administration, relevant certifications, strong communication, and proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Fire Science, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Firefighter I/II certification, Fire Inspector Certification, Wisconsin Medical Responder (EMR) certification (minimum).
  • Knowledge of NFPA 1, NFPA standards, Wisconsin Fire Codes and municipal ordinances.
  • Strong communication, organization, report writing, and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Valid Wisconsin driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct fire and life safety inspections of commercial, residential, and institutional properties.
  • Enforce fire codes and municipal ordinances and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Develop and deliver fire safety, injury prevention, and emergency preparedness programs.
  • Maintain inspection, education, and enforcement records using department software.
  • Review building plans and assist with pre-incident planning activities.
  • Represent the Fire Department at community events, meetings, schools, and outreach programs.
  • Collaborate with city departments, property owners, businesses, and public safety partners.
  • Respond to Fire and EMS incidents as assigned and maintain operational readiness.
