Baptist Health is seeking a PRN Community/Retail Pharmacy Technician Float to join our pharmacy team. Float locations include Louisville, New Albany, IN, and LaGrange.

The role centers on patient‑focused service, prescription filling and dispensing under pharmacist supervision, and participation in inventory and delivery tasks. Qualified candidates will have a high school diploma or GED and prior retail pharmacy experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency is required.
• Previous retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• If not currently registered, Kentucky Board of Pharmacy and Indiana Board of Pharmacy registration will be required before or on the date of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager with serving customers and maintaining the Community Pharmacy.
• Fill and dispense prescriptions, including computer order entry, updating patient information, labeling, and transactions at point of sale.
• Deliver medications to discharging patients per Pharmacist's requests.
• Perform prescriber outreach for prescription refills under direct supervision.
• Assist in home delivery scheduling for prescriptions.
• Assist in inventory management and physical inventory preparation.
• Perform simple nonsterile compounding under direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Summary

The primary purpose of the Community/Retail Pharmacy Technician is to assist the Pharmacist and Pharmacy Manager with serving customers and maintaining the Community Pharmacy at Baptist Health. This position requires taking responsibility within appropriate guidelines under the supervision of the pharmacist for many of the medication preparation and distribution duties. The Community Pharmacy Technician will assist the Community Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacists in prescription fulfillment, playing a key role in pharmacy operations and providing excellent patient service. The Community Pharmacy Technician functions in a multi-skilled environment, which requires the application of teamwork, leadership and flexibility. This position has a high degree of interaction with patients, family members, visitors and other members of the health care team.

• Performs all functions and duties with the patient at the center, ensuring prompt and friendly service in the Community Pharmacy.
• Performs all tasks associated with the filling and dispensing of community prescriptions, including computer order entry, updating patient information, filling and labeling prescriptions, and completing transactions at the point of sale.
• Delivery of medications to discharging patients per Pharmacist's requests.
• Completes prescriber outreach for prescription refills under direct pharmacist supervision.
• Assists with scheduling and coordinating home delivery for prescriptions.
• Assists in inventory management processes, including order review, inventory returns, restocking shelves, and physical inventory preparation.
• Ability to prioritize workflow by patient impact and ensure that all assigned tasks are completed at the end of the shift.
• Performs simple nonsterile compounding per current USP<795> guidelines and as permitted by state law under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.
• Assists in training new staff when assigned.
• Escalates all identified problems or patient complaints, if they cannot be corrected by the employee, to the Pharmacist.
• Attends and contributes to the content of meetings and committees as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency is required.
• Previous retail pharmacy experience preferred.
• If not currently registered, the registration with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy and Indiana Board of Pharmacy will be required before or on the date of hire (only an application and fee).
• Must be available to travel to Baptist Health Community Pharmacy locations as needed. Float locations will be Louisville, New Albany, IN and LaGrange.
