Job Description

Under the direction of the Director of Community Relations & Program Development, the Community Resource Specialist is responsible for general database maintenance and updates, providing customer support to community partners including current and prospective members of the 2-1-1 Sacramento database, as well as creation of routine reports. This position organizes community surveys, including follow‑up communications, assists in analyzing data and producing reports for publication, and adheres to quality assurance procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducts surveys to compile comprehensive information on nonprofit and public services.
  • Edits and proofreads database content for electronic and printed publications.
  • Maintains quality control procedures for updating and reporting information.
  • Ensures all entered information is complete and accurate, within standards, and up‑to‑date.
  • Classifies and codes health and human services information using the Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) taxonomy.
  • Conducts queries and assists in producing reports on caller demographics and community needs.
  • Assists in producing reports for funding agencies as required.
  • Interacts professionally in providing support to current and prospective service provider members of the 2-1-1 Sacramento database.
  • Assists in producing directory publications in multiple formats.
  • Support call center operations & communication in instances of both local and regional disaster/emergency services activation.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree (AA/AS) or equivalent from a two‑year college and two years relevant work experience.
  • Experience in editing and producing publications and reports.
  • Experience in gathering, categorizing, processing, and analyzing data efficiently and accurately.
  • Experience with relational database management & maintenance.
  • Computer skills to maintain a computerized database, work with web‑based systems, and use Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, Access, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Self‑directed and able to manage workload with little supervision.
  • Knowledge of, or ability to learn and apply, the AIRS Taxonomy classification system and standards.
  • Attentive to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently or as a team member as required, especially in times of crisis or disaster.
  • Ability to successfully adapt to a rapidly changing work environment.
  • Knowledge of the social and human services network in Sacramento.
  • Experience with data visualization platforms.
  • Able to achieve Alliance of Information and Referral Systems (AIRS) resource database certification in an appropriate time span.
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the Community Resource Specialist job description with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must pass drug screening and criminal background check.
  • Must immediately inform Goodwill of any arrests and/or convictions that occur while employed at Goodwill.
  • Must possess a valid California driver’s license and insurable driving record.
  • Must not present a direct threat of safety and health to self, others or property.

Additional Information

Position Information:

  • Job Type: Full‑Time
  • Compensation (DOE): $13.50‑$17.00 per hour.
  • Work is primarily performed in an office environment.
  • High adaptability required.
  • Work environment is usually hectic (fast‑paced) with frequent short deadlines and regular instances of critical or unusual situations.
