Job summary

Washington Commanders is seeking a meticulous Community Relations Coordinator to support planning, execution, and evaluation of community initiatives and events. You will coordinate game day experiences, manage vendors, recruit volunteers, and help with sponsorship contracts and charity campaigns.

The role requires strong communication, initiative, and ability to work in a fast-paced sports environment, with occasional nights and weekends for home games and events.

Qualifications

  • A College degree and a minimum of one year of work experience in charitable organizations, fundraising, marketing, events, community relations, and/or media are required.
  • Graduate degree and/or experience working in or with professional sports are desirable.
  • Must be able to commute to College Park, MD offices, the stadium/event center and the BigBear.ai Training Facility in Ashburn, VA.
  • Availability to work all Commanders home games and assigned events, which may include nights and weekends.
  • Familiarity with Social Media is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience in handling confidential information appropriately.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing multiple high-profile events and game day experiences, including marketing, event planning, vendor selection and negotiations, volunteer recruitment and management, and silent auction item procurement.
  • Oversee and assist in executing elements of Community Relations sponsorship contracts, community events, including media, digital assets, signage, special events, program events and initiatives, hospitality, and in-game promotions.
  • Assist in Game Day preparation, including the creation of Game Day Production notes, ticket fulfillment, and managing suite orders.
  • Serve as a strategic thinker offering consultancy for partners and demonstrating expertise in their categories.
  • Support planning and execution of community events, ROS staffing, volunteer coordination, project schedules, calendars, and operational resources.
  • Coordinate NFL cause marketing initiatives like Crucial Catch and Inspire Change, and other league campaigns.
  • Identify storytelling opportunities, monitor current events, and support engagement initiatives.
