Job summary

The City of Georgetown invites applications for a Planning Manager role. Under the Building & Planning Director, you will implement development standards including zoning, subdivision, and land development.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree, 3+ years in planning or related fields, and may pursue AICP/Flood Plain Manager certifications. Proficiency in MS Office and GIS is required, and a valid SC driver's license is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; master's preferred.
• 3+ years of experience in planning, zoning, geography, environmental studies, or related field.
• AICP certification preferred, or ability to obtain and maintain post hire.
• Flood Plain Manager Certifications preferred, or ability to obtain and maintain post hire as required.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS; ability to learn BS&A, Forerunner, etc.
• Valid South Carolina Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Implement City's development standards, including zoning, subdivision, land development, and other regulations.
• Work under general direction to ensure compliance and quality of plan reviews.
• Collaborate with staff and stakeholders to administer planning programs.

Position Overview:

Under general direction and supervision of the Building & Planning Director, this position works independently to implement the City's development standards, including zoning, subdivision, land development, and other regulations.

Qualifications:

• A Bachelor's degree in Planning, Geography, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a closely related field. Master's degree preferred.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in planning, zoning, geography, environmental studies, or another job-related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• AICP certification preferred, or the ability to obtain and maintain post hire as directed.
• Flood Plain Manager Certifications preferred, or the ability to obtain and maintain post hire as required or directed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Power Point) and GIS with the ability to learn other software such as BS&A, Forerunner, etc.
• Valid South Carolina Driver's License.
