Job summary

Pioneer Community Energy seeks a Community Outreach Specialist to manage relationships with diverse customers and elevate awareness of Pioneer’s programs. The role focuses on outreach to Hispanic/Latino communities, Spanish-language materials, and community partnerships.

Responsibilities include presenting in English and Spanish, visiting communities weekly, and coordinating with Communications to align outreach with organizational priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Administration, or related field.
• Three years of progressive experience in community outreach, public relations, strategic account management, municipal services, customer engagement, energy efficiency, or CCA programs.
• Evening and weekend work required.

Job description

The Community Outreach Specialist performs a wide range of duties in the management of relationships between Pioneer’s municipal, residential and commercial customers, elevating awareness of Pioneer and its programs, and troubleshooting billing issues. Duties include:

• Developing and implementing outreach strategies to strengthen Pioneer’s relationships with Hispanic/Latino communities and Spanish-speaking residents, businesses, and community organizations throughout Pioneer’s existing and expansion service areas.
• Conducting outreach activities, educational presentations, community meetings, and one-on-one conversations in Spanish and English, as appropriate, to ensure customers can access and understand information about their energy service.
• Representing Pioneer at community events that provide opportunities to engage directly with Hispanic/Latino residents and businesses.
• Identifying opportunities to expand Pioneer’s visibility and participation in Spanish-speaking communities through partnerships with Hispanic-serving organizations, Spanish-language media, community-based nonprofits, faith-based organizations, schools, and other trusted local institutions.
• Applying culturally responsive outreach practices that recognize the diversity of Hispanic/Latino communities, including differences in language preference, cultural background, geographic location, economic circumstances, and familiarity with the energy industry.
• Helping to develop, review, and distribute accurate, accessible Spanish-language materials, including program descriptions, energy education resources, customer communications, presentations, and outreach materials.
• Identifying language-access and communication barriers and recommending practical solutions to improve customer understanding and engagement.
• Conducting at least one (1) community visit per week and a minimum of two (2) visits per month to each assigned community.
• Educating residents, businesses, municipal clients, and community organizations about Pioneer’s energy services, rate offerings, and available programs.
• Assisting Spanish-speaking customers in navigating questions related to Pioneer’s services, energy programs, rates, and billing, coordinating with Customer Care and other appropriate departments when specialized assistance is needed.
• Coordinating with Communications staff to align bilingual outreach, community engagement, and educational activities with Pioneer’s organizational priorities and program objectives.
• Qualified candidates will have an ability to speak effectively before community groups, governing boards or employees of members, both in English and Spanish, prepare reports and correspondence, and demonstrate a commitment to public power, electric reliability and affordability and to serving diverse communities.

Experience and Education

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Communications, Public Administration, or a related field.

OR

Experience:

Three years ofprogressively responsibleexperience in community outreach, public relations, strategic account management, municipal services, customer engagement, energy efficiency, or Community Choice Aggregation (CCA) programs.

The position requires evening and weekend work.

The salary range is $110,273 - $164,858, with placement dependent on qualifications plus generous benefits
