Job summary

Hampton Roads Transit invites applications for a Public Outreach Coordinator to design and oversee inclusive outreach programs across bus, ferry, and light rail services. • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, urban or transportation planning, public administration, community development, or a related field.
• Demonstrated background in public engagement, community outreach, communications, or planning.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning and execution of comprehensive outreach strategies informing community organizations, stakeholders, and residents about HRT services and projects.
• Serve as the department lead for outreach related to service changes and the introduction/ modification of services.
• Coordinate public meetings, forums, and events, including logistics, vendor support, and dissemination of information.
• Monitor and report outreach activities using qualitative and quantitative metrics to evaluate effectiveness and equity outcomes.
• Represent HRT in regional groups and collaborate with planning, operations, marketing, and customer service to ensure consistent messaging.
