Job summary

Sunrise Community, Inc. is seeking a Direct Support professional to provide support, supervision and community-based living assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The role emphasizes safety, rights protection, and promoting independence within defined plans. The position requires a background check, valid driver’s license with endorsements and 3+ years of driving experience, basic computer skills, and experience in human services.

Qualifications

• Background and drug screenings are required prior to employment.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License with endorsements and have at least 3 years of driving experience.
• Must possess basic computer skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent if required by work location.
• Minimum one year of experience in the human service field if required by work location.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and reports any suspected abuse or violations of an individual’s rights.
• Provides support, assistance and supervision to meet the needs and goals of the individuals according to their plans.
• Ensures that training, behavior and support programs are implemented and documented per regulatory requirements.
• Keeps the health, safety and well-being of individuals protected at all times.
• Provides a positive environment that promotes independence and choice.
• Follows positioning schedules and uses equipment per plan.
• Assists with diets, textures, and equipment as needed.
• Maintains and organizes homes, outside areas and vehicles.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
