Job summary

Aware Recovery Care, Inc. in Orlando, FL, seeks a Community Outreach Advocate to promote recovery resources and build partnerships with local organizations and public safety partners. This role focuses on supporting communities affected by substance use disorders and ensuring access to recovery services.

You will educate communities, participate in events, and collaborate with clinical and admissions teams to ensure timely information while upholding ethical standards and compassionate care.

Qualifications

• Must actively reside within the state of Florida.
• Willing to travel (25%-50%) with a valid driver's license and own vehicle.
• Minimum of 1 year (2 years preferred) of personal recovery from substance use disorder or family experience with addiction.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Comfortable field-based outreach and speaking to mixed audiences including clinicians, hospital staff, families, and people seeking recovery.
• Self-starter with motivation and organizational skills.
• Passionate about helping individuals with substance use disorders.
• Ability to work ethically and professionally in sensitive environments.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain ethical and professional boundaries.
• Preferred: active or in-progress peer certification (e.g., CCAR) where applicable

Responsibilities

• Serve as a community ambassador by increasing awareness of recovery resources and support services.
• Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, civic groups, service clubs, recovery organizations, faith-based groups, senior living communities, law enforcement, and educational institutions.
• Engage with local groups to promote recovery resources and wellness initiatives.
• Attend and participate in community events, health fairs, networking and coalition meetings.
• Provide education and presentations about substance use disorders, recovery, wellness, and available resources.
• Foster collaborations with local leaders and public safety professionals to support health and well-being.
• Support community engagement initiatives to reduce stigma and promote long-term recovery.
• Assist individuals and families in connecting with treatment and recovery resources.
• Identify opportunities for partnerships and educational programming to strengthen local recovery ecosystems.
• Coordinate and participate in outreach activities and events; document engagement and partnerships.
• Communicate professionally with community members, partners, and internal teams.
• Collaborate with clinical, admissions, peer support, and business development teams to share community feedback.
• Represent Aware Recovery Care in a professional, compassionate, and recovery-focused manner.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Serve as a community ambassador for Aware Recovery Care by increasing awareness of recovery resources and support services throughout the assigned region.


• Develop and maintain relationships with community organizations, civic groups, service clubs, recovery community organizations, faith-based organizations, senior-serving organizations, senior living communities, law enforcement agencies, fire departments, EMS agencies, educational institutions, community coalitions, and other community stakeholders.


• Engage with local community groups and organizations to promote awareness of recovery resources, wellness initiatives, and support services available through Aware Recovery Care.


• Attend and participate in community events, health fairs, educational programs, networking opportunities, coalition meetings, civic organization meetings, and recovery-focused activities on behalf of Aware Recovery Care.


• Provide education and presentations to community members, families, community organizations, public safety agencies, senior-serving organizations, and professional groups regarding substance use disorders, recovery, wellness, and available community resources.


• Foster collaborative relationships with local leaders, community advocates, public safety professionals, civic organizations, faith communities, and organizations that support the health and well‑being of individuals and families.


• Support community engagement initiatives aimed at reducing stigma, increasing awareness, and promoting long-term recovery.


• Assist individuals, families, and community members in connecting with appropriate treatment, recovery, and support resources when needed.


• Identify opportunities for partnerships, educational programming, and community initiatives that strengthen local recovery ecosystems.


• Coordinate and participate in community outreach activities, volunteer opportunities, awareness campaigns, and special events.


• Maintain accurate documentation of community engagement activities and partnership development efforts.


• Communicate professionally and ethically with community members, families, partners, and internal teams.


• Collaborate with clinical, admissions, peer support, and business development teams to ensure community needs and feedback are appropriately shared.


• Represent Aware Recovery Care in a professional, compassionate, and recovery-focused manner.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.


• Minimum of 1 year (2 years preferred) of continuous personal recovery from any Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and/or personal experience with addiction in family members or loved ones.


• Proficient in Microsoft Office


• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.


• Comfortable working in a field-based outreach and comfortable speaking to mixed audiences including clinicians, hospital staff, families, and people actively seeking recovery.


• Self-starter with strong motivation and organizational skills.
