Job description

Company Overview

At Wider Circle, we connect neighbors for better health. Wider Circle's groundbreaking Connect for Life® program brings neighbors together in-person and online for health, wellness, and social activities that improve mental and physical health. We create webs of community circles by employing local and culturally competent engagement specialists, whose hand-on-hand approach to forming trusted circles is informed by a sophisticated analytics platform. We are on a mission to make the world a better place for older adults and disadvantaged communities.

About The Role

As our Community Liaison, you'll be the face of Wider Circle in Essex County and other areas of Northern New Jersey like Bergen and Hudson Counties. You'll knock on doors, build partnerships from scratch, and turn those partnerships into real enrollments in our services. This is a full-time temporary position projected to run through the end of 2026, with the potential to convert to a permanent role.

What You'll Do
  • Go door-to-door, building partnerships with senior centers, physician offices, hospitals, faith and civic organizations, food pantries, public housing, and local insurance brokers. We will provide a starter lead list and you’ll build on that list as you get to know the market.
  • Establish a regular cadence of meetings and interactions with community organizations to establish trust. Learn their needs and align our offerings to provide support.
  • Plan and lead community engagement activities, or attend gatherings hosted by our partners where you will present Wider Circle’s services.
  • Establish direct referral channels from the community-based organizations to Wider Circle's services
  • Meet individuals in the community and help them sign up for our services.
  • Identify adults in the community who could benefit from Wider Circle's services.
  • Hit a weekly target of community organization visits, and keep clean, same-day records of every visit
  • Build lasting partnerships, not one-time referrals — you're the consistent point of contact partners can count on
  • Represent Wider Circle's brand in every room you're in, and bring field intelligence back to the team every week.
Who You Are
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment where the plan can change week to week
  • Comfortable working independently and collaboratively
  • Resilient — you don't get discouraged by a closed door or a slow week, and you keep showing up anyway
  • A hunter mentality — self-motivated to go find the next opportunity rather than wait for one to come to you
  • A proven relationship builder, comfortable meeting new people and earning trust quickly
  • A strong communicator who can explain a program clearly to a stranger in two minutes or less
  • Represent Wider Circle’s core values: Never Break a Promise, Be Transparent, Care Deeply, Foster a Sense of Belonging, Be Accountable, Embrace Diversity.
  • Based in Essex County, NJ. (Consideration given to Hudson and Bergen Counties.)
  • Have reliable transportation required for daily travel between community sites and know the local community well (Standard mileage reimbursement rates apply).
  • Strong knowledge of the Essex County community
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice to Have

  • Community building or sales experience in healthcare (Medicare/Medicaid, home health, managed care, or similar)
  • Existing relationships with senior centers, physician offices, or community organizations in the area
  • Comfort with CRM and navigating Google Suite to document work in spreadsheets; confidence using technology to attend virtual meetings and ability to maintain conversation with colleagues across internal communication channels such as Google Chat or Slack.

As a venture-backed company, Wider Circle offers competitive compensation including:

  • Performance-based incentive bonuses
  • Opportunity to grow with the company
  • Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision
  • 401(k) Plan
  • Paid Time Off
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Health Care FSA
  • Dependent Care FSA
  • Health Savings Account
  • Voluntary Disability Benefits
  • Basic Life and AD&D Insurance
  • Adoption Assistance Program
  • Training and Development
  • Compensation:$18-$22/hour.

And most importantly, an opportunity to LOVE, LEARN, and GROW with us!

Wider Circle is proud to be an equal-opportunity employer that does not tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind. Our commitment to Diversity and inclusion supports our ability to build diverse teams and develop inclusive work environments. We believe in empowering people and valuing their differences.
