Job summary

The Pavilion Behavioral Health System is seeking a Community Liaison to act as the bridge between the facility, the community and referring agencies. This full-time, dayshift role focuses on creating demand for services through ethical marketing and proactive outreach.

The ideal candidate will reside near central Illinois and will travel extensively (95%+), building relationships with referral sources, coordinating hospital-based events, and representing the hospital in a professional manner.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain referral relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with referral sources to promote facility usage for patient placements.
  • Work independently with sources to meet referrals' requests.
  • Recommend referrals to hospital programs or external providers.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of managed care concepts and hospital admission processes.
  • Represent the hospital’s image to the community and coordinate events.

This role involves extensive travel (95%+).

The ideal candidate will reside in or close proximity to one of the following locations: Peoria, IL; Pekin, IL; Galesburg, IL; Bloomington, IL; Springfield, IL Kankakee, IL; Pontiac, IL; or Decatur, IL.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Liaison directly serves as the liaison between the facility, the community, and referring agencies. The Community Liaison is directly responsible for creating demand for the facility’s services through the effective application of ethical marketing principles and sales methods.

In collaboration with the Director of Business Development and Business Development Team, the Community Liaison presents a positive and professional public image of the facility within the community.

The Community Liaison is responsible for implementing the facility’s strategic sales and marketing plans, enhancing the facility’s brand/image, effectively managing their assigned territory and accounts, and works to achieve departmental and facility business development goals. The Community Liaison must be able to demonstrate tact, resourcefulness, patience and dedication in a fast-paced environment.

Hours are based on departmental and facility needs and may include day, evening and weekend hours, as directed by the Director of Business Development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Meet with referral sources to promote using the facility when needing to place clients in a psychiatric hospital.
  • Work independently with the sources and make business decisions to adequately meet the requests of the referring agency.
  • Recommend referrals to the hospitals programs or to outside professionals in the community.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of managed care concepts and contracts.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of hospital admission process for inpatient, outpatient and partial programs.
  • Acquire current knowledge of competition and other care providers.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with the public (i.e., one-to-one contacts, group presentations, etc.).
  • Document accurate and efficient reports of sales calls, census, etc.
  • Participate in coordination, planning and implementation of hospital based workshops and other events.
  • Participate in strategic planning.
  • Represent the service-oriented image of the hospital to the community.
  • Perform work directly related to the management or general business operations of The Pavilion.
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment with respect to business development matters of significance.
  • Maintain car for travel.
  • Project a positive image of The Pavilion by being courteous, helpful, friendly, and professional in relationships with patients, visitors and co-workers.
  • Assure compliance with federal, state, and organizational confidentiality regulations.
  • Respond to a “support code” in a therapeutic, appropriate manner as prescribed in the annual TCI in-service.
  • Maintain CPR and TCI certification, as well as OSHA annual in-service requirement.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business or related field required. Experience may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis in lieu of a degree.

Experience: Prior marketing and/or sales experience within a behavioral healthcare setting preferred. Three years minimum documented experience in referral development, account management, sales growth, and physician relationships preferred.

Licensure/Certification: Must possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License.

  • Knowledge of the Illinois behavioral health marketplace, insurance plans, and referral sources.
  • Data collection and analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Business development concept knowledge.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge application of marketing and sales principles and tactics.
  • Knowledge of key health care facility environments.
