Odessa College Continuing Education is seeking knowledgeable instructors to teach a variety of Community Enrichment courses that promote lifelong learning and practical life skills.

Instructors join a flexible, part-time program with classes scheduled based on community demand. Candidates should be 18+, bring subject knowledge, and engage effectively with diverse learners to deliver engaging, quality instruction.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Demonstrated knowledge or experience in the subject they wish to teach.
  • Ability to effectively communicate knowledge to lifelong learners.
  • Exhibits strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Dependable, organized, and professional.

Responsibilities

  • Develop course content with Continuing Education Coordinator within their area of expertise.
  • Teaching engaging, organized, and informative classes.
  • Creating a positive and welcoming learning environment.
  • Coordinate scheduling, registration, classroom logistics, and marketing with Continuing Education staff.
  • Communicate professionally with students and staff.
  • Provide an exceptional learning experience for community participants.

Areas of Instruction

Odessa College Continuing Education is seeking knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and community-minded instructors to teach a variety of Community Enrichment courses. Community Enrichment classes are designed to provide lifelong learning opportunities for individuals of all ages by offering engaging, non-credit courses that promote personal growth, professional development, creative exploration, and practical life skills.

One of the greatest strengths of our Community Enrichment program is its flexibility. Courses are highly customizable to meet both the needs of our community and the instructor’s expertise and availability. We encourage instructors to share their passion by developing classes that inspire, educate, and connect with members of our community.

Whether you’re an industry professional, hobbyist, artist, entrepreneur, or skilled tradesperson, we would love to discuss how your knowledge can become a Community Enrichment course.

Specific Position Duties

  • Communicating professionally with students and staff

Minimum Qualifications
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess demonstrated knowledge, professional experience, certification, or advanced skill in the subject they wish to teach
  • Be able to effectively demonstrate and communicate their knowledge to a variety of lifelong learners
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Be dependable, organized, and professional
  • All prospective instructors participate in a subject matter review with Continuing Education staff prior to onboarding to ensure they possess the knowledge and experience necessary to teach their proposed course(s).
Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience is preferred but not required.

This is a flexible, part-time instructional position.

  • Flexible scheduling based on instructor availability and community demand
  • Class days, times, course length, and frequency are determined collaboratively.
