Job summary

TASFRL is seeking a Community Engagement & Programs Coordinator to advance outreach with land stewards, support workshop delivery, and connect producers with conservation resources and regenerative practices.

The role reports to the Managing Director, offers Hybrid schedule as an independent contractor (1099) with potential transition to full-time and travel within rural communities to build relationships and expand program impact.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in agriculture, forestry, agroecology, community development, education, or related field.
  • Experience in community outreach, agriculture programs, conservation initiatives, or nonprofit engagement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse rural and agricultural communities.
  • Familiarity with land stewardship, regenerative agriculture, conservation practices, or related fields.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within rural regions as needed for outreach, events, and program support.

Position Overview

The Community Engagement & Programs Coordinator supports community outreach and education by building relationships with land stewards, assisting with program delivery, and connecting producers with conservation resources and opportunities.

This role supports TASFRL's work as the Texas SFLR Network site by connecting land stewards with resources, education, and regenerative practices.

Reports to: Managing Director

Key Responsibilities
  • Support outreach with farmers, ranchers, and land stewards.
  • Assist with workshops, field days, educational programs, and community events.
  • Help land stewards navigate agricultural and conservation programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between land stewards and government or institutional partners.
  • Support adoption of regenerative, agroecological, and conservation practices.
  • Assist with program logistics and participant follow-up.
  • Maintain program records and support reporting as needed.
  • Conduct outreach visits and maintain participant relationships.
  • Support leadership with funding and grant-related activities.
  • Perform other duties that support TASFRL's mission.
First 90 Days Focus

Initial engagement will focus on learning TASFRL programs and SFLR Network priorities, building relationships with land stewards and partners, and supporting outreach activities.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent experience in agriculture, forestry, agroecology, community development, education, or a related field.
  • Experience in community outreach, agriculture programs, conservation initiatives, or nonprofit engagement.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse rural and agricultural communities.
  • Familiarity with land stewardship, regenerative agriculture, conservation practices, or related fields.
  • Ability and willingness to travel within rural regions as needed for outreach, events, and program support.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with USDA, NRCS, conservation programs, or similar agricultural support systems.
  • Bilingual or multilingual communication skills (Spanish or Vietnamese preferred) are a plus, particularly for outreach to Spanish- or Vietnamese-speaking landowners.
Work Structure
  • Hybrid schedule (combination of remote work and field/community engagement).
  • Independent contractor (1099) engagement with potential transition to full-time employment based on organizational needs and funding.
  • Certain responsibilities involving site visits or community engagement may require background screening consistent with organizational policies.
Travel Requirements

Travel may occur throughout Texas, including rural and agricultural communities statewide, and may occasionally include domestic or international travel depending on program needs and partnerships.

Compensation

Compensation commensurate with experience.
