Community Engagement Manager
Summary
Under the direction of the Vice President/Director of Homebuyer Development is responsible for elevating the organization’s visibility, strengthening community engagement, and leading strategic marketing and outreach efforts that support the organization’s mission and programs.
This position manages the planning, development, and execution of promotional and outreach initiatives, with a strong focus on content creation, marketing campaigns, brand communications, community partnerships, and public engagement for the organization and its affiliated entities, as needed.
The position requires a strong combination of creativity, strategic thinking, and project management, with the ability to develop engaging content, connect with diverse audiences, coordinate across departments and external partners, and maintain consistent organizational messaging. Through these efforts, the Community Engagement Manager helps position the organization as a trusted community resource while advancing affordable homeownership, housing equity, and long‑term community sustainability.

- Develop and execute promotional and marketing campaigns for organizational programs, services, events, initiatives, and milestones across print, digital, social media, and other communication channels.
- Develop clear, engaging written content for articles, advertising, commercials, videos, websites, newsletters, press releases, and other promotional needs for the organization and its affiliated entities, partnering with the Social Media Manager on content intended for social platforms.
- Collaborate with the Social Media Manager to develop and maintain an annual editorial and social media calendar designed to maximize reach, engagement, and organizational impact.
- Collaborate on the development, design, production, and distribution of marketing materials, including flyers, newsletters, banners, signage, graphics, promotional items, and other branded collateral.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, media partners, and outside agencies in the development and delivery of promotional materials and campaigns for the organization, its brands, and affiliated entities.
- Conduct market and competitor research to identify content opportunities, emerging trends, audience needs, and gaps in the organization’s current marketing efforts.
- Assist with maintaining and updating organizational and affiliated websites to ensure content remains accurate, relevant, and consistent with current programs and initiatives.
- Represent the organization at community events, fairs, school visits, city meetings, presentations, partner functions, and other public‑facinating opportunities.
- Identify and pursue opportunities for the organization to conduct presentations, participate in community events, and increase awareness of available programs and services.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community partners, sponsors, schools, municipalities, faith‑based organizations, media contacts, influencers, and other stakeholders that support the organization’s outreach efforts.
- Coordinate outreach activities, including informational booths, presentations, promotional materials, and giveaways.
- Work collaboratively across departments to ensure outreach efforts align with organizational priorities, target audiences, messaging, and mission impact.
- Lead and assist in the planning, coordination, promotion, and execution of organizational and community events, including the Homebuyer Fair, Welcome Home events, ribbon cuttings, workshops, celebrations, and other special initiatives.
- Coordinate event logistics, vendors, promotional timelines, staffing needs, marketing materials, and other event‑related requirements.
- Develop and implement promotional strategies designed to increase awareness, attendance, and engagement for organizational events and campaigns.
- Conduct post‑event reviews and evaluate outcomes to identify opportunities for improvement and strengthen future outreach efforts.
- Maintain brand consistency across external‑facing materials, communications, campaigns, digital platforms, and affiliated organizational brands.
- Coordinate news media communications, including the development and distribution of press releases, media advisories, requests for coverage, and other media outreach.
- Establish and maintain relationships with news media contacts to strengthen organizational visibility and support ongoing promotional efforts.
- Identify and develop compelling human‑interest and customer success stories from across organizational programs, in English and Spanish as appropriate, for use in marketing, media relations, storytelling, and community outreach.
- Develop messaging and copy that effectively communicates the organization’s mission, programs, services, accomplishments, and community impact.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
- 2 or more years of experience in marketing, promotions, community outreach, communications, event planning, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop clear, engaging, and audience‑appropriate marketing and promotional content.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish, with the ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience developing marketing and promotional materials using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or comparable design and content creation platforms.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple campaigns, events, deadlines, and priorities simultaneously.
- Valid, current, and non‑restricted Texas driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in marketing, community outreach, public relations, promotions, or community engagement.
- Experience planning, coordinating, and promoting community events, workshops, campaigns, or other public‑facinating initiatives.
- Experience with digital marketing and online marketing channels, including social media, email marketing, and website content.
- Knowledge of search engine optimization (SEO), keyword research, website analytics, and tools such as Google Analytics.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite applications, including Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, or similar multimedia design and editing software.
- Experience with website content management, web design, or website maintenance. (Currently working with RGVision)
- Strong copywriting, editing, and storytelling skills, particularly for marketing, promotional, media, and community‑facing communications.
- Experience working with community partners, media representatives, vendors, sponsors, or other external stakeholders.
- Portfolio or examples of previous mar k e t i n g , design, multimedia, campaign, or promotional work may be requested.
Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment with occasional outside travel to AHSTI subdivisions and events. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Demands
The physical demands outlined here represent the requirements necessary for an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While carrying out job duties, the employee must regularly communicate verbally and listen. Additionally, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use their hands for tasks such as handling or manipulating objects, and reach with their hands and arms.
Expected Work Hours
Some flexibility in hours is allowed, but the employee must be available during the organization’s core work hours, which are Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. A minimum of 40 hours per week is expected.
Travel
This position requires regular local and regional travel to community events, partner organizations, schools, city meetings, AHSTI subdivisions, and other public‑facing engagements, in addition to occasional travel outside the area for training.
