Job description

Community Engagement & Development Coordinator

Turn Connections Into Opportunities. Help Change a Young Life.

At My Friend’s House Family and Children Services, Inc. (My Friend’s House), we believe every young person deserves to feel safe, supported, encouraged, and hopeful about his future.

Our nonprofit organization provides a home-like environment for boys ages 12–18 in state custody, helping them build confidence, develop life skills, and prepare for successful futures.

We’re seeking a Community Engagement & Development Coordinator to connect our mission with the people and organizations who can help us make an even greater impact.

If you’re a relationship-builder, creative communicator, and self-motivated professional who enjoys bringing people together around a meaningful cause, this may be the opportunity for you.

What You’ll Do

You’ll serve as a key connection between My Friend’s House and our community—building relationships, increasing awareness, engaging supporters, and developing the resources needed to sustain our mission.

  • Build and strengthen relationships with donors, businesses, sponsors, churches, civic groups, foundations, and community partners.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies, campaigns, annual giving, sponsorships, and other revenue opportunities.
  • Identify, research, write, and manage grants, including required reporting.
  • Cultivate new donors while strengthening relationships with existing supporters.
  • Create meaningful opportunities for individuals, businesses, and organizations to become involved with our mission.
  • Recruit and engage volunteers and community groups.
  • Share our story through donor communications, community outreach, presentations, social media, marketing, and public relations.
  • Plan and lead fundraising activities, including one major annual fundraising event of up to 500 guests.
  • Represent My Friend’s House at community events and networking opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and staff to establish development goals, track progress, and prepare fundraising reports.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who sees relationships as more than contacts on a list.

You enjoy meeting people, building genuine connections, and helping others discover meaningful ways to get involved. You’re comfortable talking with a donor or business leader, speaking to a community group, writing a compelling grant proposal, coordinating volunteers, or rolling up your sleeves to make an event successful. You’re organized, creative, dependable, and able to take an idea from concept to completion.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, fundraising, marketing, communications, business, public relations, or a related field.
  • Relevant experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, community engagement, marketing, communications, or a related role.
  • Experience with donor cultivation, grants, sponsorships, fundraising campaigns, events, or community partnerships.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and public-speaking skills.
  • Strong organizational and project-management abilities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a small, mission-focused team.
  • Availability for occasional evening and weekend events.
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license and ability to successfully complete required background checks.

Why Join My Friend’s House?

Make an impact you can see. Your work helps provide care, stability, encouragement, experiences, and opportunities for young men who need them.

Build relationships that matter. You’ll connect people throughout our community with meaningful ways to make a difference.

Bring your ideas. We welcome creativity and new approaches to partnerships, fundraising, outreach, and community engagement.

Be part of something personal. We’re a small, dedicated nonprofit team where every person—and every contribution—matters.

Reports to the Executive Director. Occasional evening and weekend availability is required for fundraising and community events.

If you want to use your skills, creativity, and ability to connect with people for a mission that matters, we’d love to hear from you.

Join My Friend’s House and help us surround the young men we serve with a community that believes in their future.
